Moving to Johor
I’ll kick this update off with probably the biggest news: I will be relocating to Johor in Malaysia from Hong Kong this summer. For 35 years, Hong Kong has been home & I will probably always consider it to be. I will honestly miss living here & the hours spent in the Lantau hills. However, the nature of my work nowadays does not mean I need to be in Hong Kong as I regularly travel overseas. I just need to be near an airport. The reason for this move is that my wife has accepted a fantastic job opportunity that she has worked hard for. After years of supporting me through the filming & photography craziness then it’s time to support her.
I will be back in Hong Kong for some future assignments & photography workshops but from this summer onwards, I will be based in Johor. Malaysia is a place that I have worked in on a number of occasions over the years & I will now be basing my photography & filming work from there and also in nearby Singapore.
Mira wins Prize at New Zealand Mountain Film Festival
We [Mira film crew] are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded ‘Best Film on Mountain Culture’ at the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival. Thank you to all who have supported this film project & encouraged us to have a go at entering some film festivals. The award of the prize was announced earlier this week and you can read more here on the NZ Mountain Film Festival site.
On June 29th 2016, there will be a screening of ‘Mira‘ in Hong Kong. This will be a bilingual [English & Chinese] screening that is hosted by Gone Running and afterwards, Mira & I will be fielding questions from the audience. Mira will be linked up from Italy on the big screen so she can field questions from the audience as well. To have a premiere screening of the Chinese version of ‘Mira’ on the big screen in my home city of Hong Kong is going to be a special moment. Looking forward to this one at The Vine in Wan Chai that used to be a cinema when I was a kid. Tickets are selling well so if you want to secure some then you can do so here: http://mira.eventbrite.hk/.
